Britain_Flag.jpgMy name is Ben Anderson My nation was involved in World War 1 because of Germany. Germany attacked a neutral country which was Belgium, Belgium wasn't even apart of the war.

I was only 18 when I joined the army because I thought it would be very patriotic for my country. I also was 18 years old when the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand took place. My name is Ben Anderson. It was about 9:00 p.m. when the news of the assassination was on TV. Austria Hungary found out that it was the Serbians who was the killer of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

The army I joined with was the British of course because I'm Britain. During the war we fought against the Germans in the trenches. It wasn't easy because we couldn't really see. The way we would attack the Germans in the trenches was mostly by machine guns, grenades, and hand held guns. Machine guns made the trench warfare a stalemate. Which means no one could move or they would get shot by the machine gun. The gun that was most used by the Britain was the bolt- action rifle. It could fire 15 rounds in a minute. The bolt- action rifle could shoot a person from a distance of 1,400 feet.

I shipped my army across the sea to Germany. Right as we approached the soil of Germany the war began. My nation's army had about an estimate of 30,000 casualties, because of the heavy machine guns that were mounted up on the bunkers. Soon our artillery got to the beach. When the artillery got there, we bombed the bunkers and we ran through their infantry like it was nothing. Most of the German soldiers were only kids about the age of 15 years old. The Germans sent in kids because they were running out of soldiers so they had to draft soldiers.

Russia exited the war because they were having their own troubles back home. So they signed a peace treaty with Germany. There were two reasons why the U.S. entered the war. One reason was because of Germany. Germany attacked a boat that had 128 U.S. citizens on it and some Russian citizens on it. The Germans thought that the ship was an ammunition supply for the Allies so they blew the ship right out of the ocean. The second reason why the U.S. entered the war was because of the letter that Germany sent to Mexico. The Germans sent a letter to Mexico saying to attack the U.S. and take back Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico the states that use to be theirs. Thats what triggered the U.S. to enter this war. Russia was having some kind of bank ruptcy problem back home.

The U.S. had a better chance of winning the war because of the technology they had. The U.S. had about 50,000 casualties. Soon the war ended around 1919. President Wilson, Prime Minister of France, Great Britain, Italy, Serbia, Poland all arrived at Paris Peace Conference.

Britain hated the peace treaty. German men, woman and children were staving because of the devastating destruction it did to the cities all over Europe. Thats how the war ended.
